Music! Food! Drinks! Exciting Auction Items!
Good friends! and a Great Cause!!!!!
Mark your calendar for the ASID Foundation’s Annual Fundraising Event: JUBILATION 08! This event, held during INTERIORS 08: The ASID Conference on Design, will be Friday, March 14, in New Orleans. Matt Lorenz, Allied Member of ASID, and winner of Bravo TV’s “Top Design”, is serving as this year’s Jubilation honorary chairman.
Through interior design research, scholarship and education, the ASID Foundation – our Foundation – was created to help address critical issues facing interior design and issues that affect the health, safety and welfare of our communities such as sustainable design, technology, design for learning environments and the needs of an aging population.
Your previous contributions have funded these Projects: Scholarships; Grants; Awards; Sup-porter of a major standards revision project for the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA – formerly FIDER); Collaborative Project with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) to develop sustain-able guidelines and resources for homeowners and residential design professionals, suppliers, & contractors; Major Sponsor for The Green House, New Directions in Sustainable Architecture & Design Exhibit – toured by 124,000 in Washington DC and now on a national tour!
The highlight of Jubilation 08 will be the live and silent auction. The purpose of our fundraiser is to raise money to fund new projects! As before, awards will be given to the top three ASID chapters who are responsible for raising the most money. Please help our chapter in bringing home first place! Our deadline is January 15.
Contact our ASID Foundation Chapter Liaison, Elaine Koufman at ladykendo@comcast.net or 203-481-1710 for an Auction Donation Form that is to be submitted with each auction item. This will help assure that you and our chapter receives the appropriate acknowledgment. Thank you for your part in helping the future of the interior design profession by making Jubilation 08 a true success!!!
Overview
In April, a new membership bylaw was enacted by the ASID Board of Directors which requires practitioner members of ASID to engage in regular, ongoing continuing education. This new member requirement strengthens the interior design profession by improving individual attitudes, competencies, knowledge and skills in subject areas essential to the growth and success of the industry.
6 Hours Every Two Years
Practitioner members of the Society are required to complete 6 contact hours of continuing education coursework (equal to 0.6 CEUs) every two years. To qualify, coursework must be taken from an approved provider.
Biyearly Self-Reporting
Practitioner members of the Society will certify compliance through an online self-reporting mechanism. The first two-year reporting period will begin on January 1, 2008, with 0.6 CEUs due before December 31, 2009. The second two-year reporting period will begin on January 1, 2010, and so on. Online self-reporting begins January 2008.
Random Audits
All members who fail to self-report their compliance with the policy will be automatically audited. Addition-ally, approximately 3 percent of members will be randomly selected for audit during each reporting period.
Failure to Comply
Any member who fails to comply with the continuing education requirements will be subject to a termination of Society membership in accordance with the requirements of the policy.
