Designer Profile

Christina and I have been designing quaint cottages, country estates, historic hotels, private golf and yacht clubs for 25 years. Our approach to each assignment is a simple low key creative process resulting in the creation of stylish interiors that are timeless, classic and fresh. Over the years, we have built a wonderful network of clients and friends with 90% of our assignments coming from repeat clients, family members or direct client introductions.

When asked how Christina and I work together on a project?

Christina handling the soft goods, furnishings and palette and my handling of the sense of space, flow interior and period detailing. In concept there is a delineation of what we each bring to an assignment however; we both work really hard to blur that line. Christina and I work really hard to create a well thought out interior… period details supporting the palette and furnishings as much as the furnishings, palette and light fixtures counterbalancing the rooms’ proportions. For me... it has always been not merely the statement of space but rather the intense experience of the space that matters.

When asked what is the difference of working with private residential clients vs. hospitality clients?

No matter who we collaborate with communication, "our process" and an unwavering commitment to providing the best at the most reasonable price is always foremost in our minds.

When asked if we see hotel and resort design influencing home design in general these days? Or vice versa?

Our hotel and resort clients are all gravitating to a residential feel albeit a commercial setting requiring higher durability standards and fire life safety code compliance while our residential clientele all want their bathrooms to be spa inspired and their bedroom tailored after hotel suites.

When asked what do you see as the differences between what clients look for in a primary vs. a secondary residence?

Most of our client give us great design freedom and creative latitude in creating the “home’s story”, most of our clients have an initial meeting in our studio, followed by a creative visioning working session with inspirational images, color and material palettes to set a direction, then they let us loose. One of our most successful resort home interiors was conceived with 2 meeting 3 telephone calls and an email post installation when the client arrived for their first stay. The email was short and to the point... “Christina it is my most favorite place in the world! I can’t thank you enough…” This from a client who has 4 homes!
