Interior Designer Full-time for the Veteran’s Health Administration 11/9/2011
The Veteran’s Health Administration, New England Healthcare System is currently seeking an experienced, full-time interior designer for our Connecticut campuses in West Haven and Newington. Qualified applicants will have previous healthcare experience in design, selection of finishes and furnishing for a complex healthcare environment. Knowledge and experience with the “Planetree Model’ of care is a plus. The position is part of a team of designers working together to develop a new program for the New England region, or VISN 1, the Veterans Integrated System Network. Our goal is to develop a patient-centered, holistic approach to healing and healthcare, promoting mental, emotional, spiritual, social and physical healing. The designer will work with medical center staff and the interior design team to coordinate and develop a brand for the VISN, development of a VISN-wide palette, furnishing and finishes for the medical centers and community based healthcare centers. Previous work in a medical design environment with developing specifications, budget management and purchasing responsibilities is helpful. Tony is an Interior Designer (ASID) with a specialty in Architectural Millwork Design. A full time position is preferable, however part time or freelance work is equally acceptable. As a consultant the designer can offer a comprehensive service to a design firm. The interior millwork scenario, coordinated with you, is then hand developed and presented as a package. Given a good millworker, shop drawings could be the next step. Alternatively the drawing work could be done by staff CAD drafters who could proceed with it.
